‘A little alarming’: 1 seriously hurt in northwest Charlotte shooting, police say

CHARLOTTE — One person was seriously hurt after a shooting outside a home in northwest Charlotte.

MEDIC responded to Colgate Circle off of Kirby Drive just before 2:30 a.m. One person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, paramedics confirmed.

A police report shows a person was shot multiple times outside of their home. The report also said someone stole items from the victim’s car.

Four victims were listed on the report, including a 2-year-old. It is unclear how the victims are connected to the case.

Neighbors told Channel 9′s Hannah Goetz they were surprised by the shooting.

“That is a little alarming, because this is a quiet place,” said a neighbor who didn’t want to go on camera. “I like it very quiet over here.”

They said the street has few issues.

“Honestly, in this area, I walk my dog every day, no problem. There’s other people who walk up and down this street and they’re always (saying) ‘Hey, how you doing.’”

Channel 9 was there after 2 a.m. while police were investigating the scene. The neighbor told us they woke up to the gunshots in the middle of the night.

“That doesn’t seem like that would really happen over here,” they said.

We are still working to learn what led up to the shooting. A police report said the victim did not know the shooter.

We’ve asked police for an update on the victim’s condition and are waiting to hear back.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
