1 firefighter injured battling blaze at historic SC plantation

GREEN POND, S.C. — Colleton County Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire that destroyed a historic South Carolina plantation Wednesday.

Fire officials said one firefighter suffered minor injuries while combating the flames

The Myrtle Grove Plantation in Green Pond, South Carolina, is about an hour west of Charleston and dates back to 1851.

According to officials, the plantation was occupied at the time but no civilians were injured.

The Sheldon Fire Department was also on the scene.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is unknown.
