Family and friends of 15-year-old killed by two other teens gather to remember him
The violent week started on May 29 in a case that involved a group of three 15-year-olds.
John “Johnny” Daniel Morales was shot in east Charlotte on First Run Circle around 5:30 p.m. that day. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Family, dozens of close friends, classmates, parents, and teachers gathered at J. M. Alexander Middle School on Saturday night to remember Johnny.
Daisy Morales is Johnny’s older sister and said her brother did not deserve what happened to him.
“He was a baby. He was our Johnny,” she said.

Morales’ best friend Keishan Harper said he would remember Johnny as being a loyal friend.
“Just being a good friend...always being there, you know. He was one of those type of people you know you could always go to if you ever needed anything,” said Harper.
Johnny Morales loved football and his friends played several games at the school to honor his memory.

“I know if he was here right now, he would want us to play,” Harper said.
Johnny’s family said they felt broken, but their burden was lightened by the large crowd that came to support their family.
“It makes me happy at least that he touched all these people and they are here for support. We’re not alone, and he’s not alone, and he’s looking down on everybody here today,” said Daisy Morales.
Morales’ family members said they hope the teens who allegedly took his life will be tried as adults.
