CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man died after being ejected from a vehicle early Sunday in southwest Charlotte, officials said.
Authorities said officers responded to a crash involving one vehicle just after 1 a.m. at Billy Graham Parkway near Westmont Drive.
Officials said officers found a white Mitsubishi Endeavor off the road and a man who appeared to have been ejected from the car.
Officers said roadway evidence showed that the driver was traveling toward Tryon Street when the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. According to officials, it appeared that the man was ejected from the driver’s side window while the car was spinning. The man was not wearing a seat belt, officials said.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Crawford Junior Deveaux by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Deveaux was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Authorities said speed played a factor in the crash, but they have not determined if alcohol was involved.
Police are asking any person who witnessed the crash or has information about the case to call Detective N.S. Bush at 704-432-2169 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
