GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A person has died and another was hurt in a serious crash Tuesday morning in Gaston County, emergency communications confirmed.
Dispatchers said they got a call for a two-car crash at about 7:45 a.m. on Union New Hope Road near Lakhany Drive.

Trooper said a driver in a truck veered out of his lane, crossed the center line and hit a car going west on Union New Hope Road.
The car’s driver was identified as Charlie Crisp. He died at the scene.
According to troopers, the truck driver, Steven Jenkins, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said charges are pending for Jenkins.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating. Officials said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The New Hope Fire Department said Union New Hope Road was closed in both directions while authorities were at the scene.
