16-year-old accused of shooting, killing teen outside east Charlotte gas station

CHARLOTTE — Police have charged a 16-year-old for fatally shooting another teen Thursday night in the parking lot of an east Charlotte gas station, officers said.

The shooting happened just before 9:30 p.m. at the Citgo near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Morningside Drive.

The shooting victim, 16-year-old Reginald Deveaux, was taken to a hospital where he died, police said.

The 16-year-old has been charged with murder but because of their age, their name will not be released.
