SALISBURY, N.C. — Police are investigating a shooting in Salisbury that left one dead and four others hurt Sunday afternoon.
Detectives said the incident began just before noon as a fight on East Lafayette Street, before escalating to a shooting.

The Salisbury Police Department is investigating a shooting incident in the 900 block of E. Lafayette St., which left one person dead and three injured.

Police said one person was pronounced dead at the scene while another victim was flown to Baptist Hospital in critical condition.
Two others, including a juvenile, were taken to a local hospital, but they are expected to be OK. Officers said they are also searching the area for potentially more victims.
Officers said a fourth victim showed up later Sunday at a hospital in Statesville and believe they were involved in the shooting. Officials said they have non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not said what led up to the incident, but they are looking for a suspect or suspects.
There was a shooting in the same area on Friday, April 24 just before 4:30 p.m. Police said both investigations are still in early stages and it is not known if the shootings are related.
