CHARLOTTE — Police said a shooting that left one person dead and two others hurt in north Charlotte earlier this month was justified.
Just before 4 a.m. on Sept. 5, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were called to Springview Road in Hidden Valley, near Hidden Valley Elementary School, for a report that several people had been shot.

When they arrived, officers found three people who had been shot.
MEDIC took two of the victims to the hospital, but the third person, 43-year-old Jeffrey Bernard Lineberger II, died at the scene, officers said.
On Set. 23, police said detectives with CMPD’s homicide unit classified the shooting as a justified homicide.
CMPD said the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office agrees with the detectives’ decision not to charge anyone.
