CHARLOTTE — A man is dead and another person was seriously hurt in a shooting Sunday night that stemmed from a robbery, police said.
Officers were called just after 8:30 p.m. to a recording studio along North Davidson Street near Anderson Street.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said when they got to the scene, they found two people who had been shot multiple times. Joseph McAfee, 23, died and the other victim was rushed to the hospital.
Detectives believe the shooting happened inside the recording studio and seemed to have started as a robbery.

“It appears from initial investigations that this was a robbery incident where gunshots were exchanged between two individuals and one of those individuals is now deceased,” said CMPD Maj. Dave Johnson.
Police said they are not looking for any suspects in the case. No one has been charged at this time.
“We are in the process of investigating this, obtaining search warrants, talking to witnesses,” Johnson said. “There were multiple witnesses in the building and on scene so we’re working through all that as we speak.”
There’s no word yet on if McAfee was the victim of the robbery or the perpetrator.
Jordan Goddard lives near the studio and says it’s unusual for police to be called to the area, but it wasn’t the first time his neighbors have seen CMPD on the block.
“They mentioned there were some issues last week too. So, nothing I’ve ever really immediately seen, but it seems like the closer neighbors have observed some things happening there before,” he said.
Goddard says it’s shocking, but he won’t let it scare him away.
“I don’t feel any different about the neighborhood,” he said. “[I] feel it is still a good spot to be in. I’ve lived here since 2017. Seems like an isolated thing.”
