1 arrested after chase involving stolen car ends near Mountain Island Lake

MOUNTAIN ISLAND LAKE, N.C. — Police officers were on foot and in boats looking for a suspect Tuesday morning after a chase involving a stolen vehicle.

The Gaston County Police Department confirmed to Channel 9 that officers were trying to stop a stolen vehicle when the driver took off. Police were tracking the car until it crashed near Mountain Island Lake, and the suspect reportedly ran away from the vehicle.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom was overhead while police officers were searching the area, which is just west of Charlotte. Before noon, one person was seen in custody.

Later Tuesday, the Gaston County Police Department issued a news release that identified the suspect as 56-year-old Christopher Lewis Moise.

According to police, Moise was arrested and charged for possession of stolen goods, fleeing/eluding arrest, reckless driving, driving while license revoked, and speeding in a work zone. He also had two active orders for arrest after failing to appear in court.

The police department added that a woman was a passenger in the SUV. She was identified as 39-year-old Natasha Joanna Arrowood, and she’s facing charges for resisting/delaying/obstructing officers.
