CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Wednesday marks a painful anniversary for a family in Caldwell County.

It has been 10 years since 26-year-old Eddie Greene was shot and killed inside his work van in Long View.

Greene's van was parked along the side of the road. Police said the motive behind the murder was most likely robbery.

Greene's sister Stacy Igo said the Friday before the murder happened, Greene had collected money for his work. Greene owned his own masonry business and his own home.

"The day before he was killed, he made his first house payment. We've been told his murder is a robbery that just went wrong," Igo said.

Since the murder, family members have placed reward posters near the murder scene. The reward is up to $10,000 leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Investigators said they have interviewed dozens of people about the case.

"I have a daughter who just graduated last year," Igo said. "A son who is a sophomore at South. These children miss him. Our family misses him."

Green's family honored Eddie by adopting the road near where he grew up. Every anniversary, Igo wears a shirt with the name of Greene's business on it.

Igo hopes the killer or someone who knows what happened comes forward.

"It's very heartbreaking that we can't get the answers we want. We want to know why. How do you take someone's life and still live a normal life," Igo said.

The family said they will never give up trying to find the person responsible.
