LENOIR, N.C. — Police in Lenoir have charged a man in a September motorcycle crash that sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries. Eyewitnesses believed it may have been a case of road rage.

The crash happened along Highway 321 when a motorcycle and a SUV collided. It shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 321 for more than 3 hours.

Motorcyclist Brian Walker said he, along with five other riders, were heading to the North Carolina High Country, when one of his good friends struck the back of an SUV after he said the driver slammed on his brakes.

The rider, Reggie Day, has been charged with following too closely, failure to reduce speed, and driving with a removed license.

Police said after reviewing surveillance video in the area, they do not believe road rage as involved in the crash.
