The Iredell County Sheriff's Office told Channel 9 that when deputies got to the house, they found Robert Quinn, 44, dead in the driveway.

Authorities said they were looking for 23-year-old Pierson Colbert, who is considered a suspect in the case.

Deputies warned other law enforcement agencies and the public to look out for Colbert.

Colbert was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Yadkin County after a traffic stop, the Iredell County sheriff confirmed. Investigators said he was in a stolen truck.

Channel 9 talked to a neighbor who said Colbert lives in a house nearby. He said Colbert, for some reason, murdered his next-door neighbor, but deputies have not confirmed that information.

As deputies work to solve the crime, neighbors said they are shaken.

"To think something like this would happen around here is mind-blowing, but to be somebody you actually know, that's what's even crazier," resident Noah Anderson said.

Neighbors said Colbert needed a place to stay and an elderly woman took him in.

They believe he was feuding with her neighbor for some reason and that led to his murder

"I don't understand that,” said nearby neighbor Kimberly Garvis. “I mean, why would he do that? Why would he kill him to start with? There's always a way to work things out without feuding and fighting and around here, this don't happen."
