Historic Mooresville Ice Cream Co. churning out a new line

MOORESVILLE, N.C.,None — After 88 years of making its renowned DeLuxe Ice Cream, Mooresville Ice Cream Company is adding a second brand.

This weekend, the historic Broad Street plant is unveiling a 15-flavor line of ice cream at the Best of Our State festival at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. The new brand is called Front Porch Carolina Churned Ice Cream.

General Manager Robert Acree said the festival was the ideal venue to launch the new brand.

"What better place to unveil our new Front Porch Carolina Churned Ice Cream than at the Best of Our State festival that celebrates so much of what makes the Carolinas great?" he said in a news release.

Front Porch flavors have names like Sweetie Tea, Blackberry Crumble, Nana's Banana Pudding, Lemony Sunshine, Chocolate Rocker, Scarlett Red Velvet, Sassy Strawberry and Peachy Keen.

The new line will be available in February in grocery stores throughout the Carolinas, as well as at the company's downtown plant.

Acree and Mooresville Ice Cream Company owner David Stamey could not be reached for comment about the new line, or how it will affect the DeLuxe brand. For more information, visit www.enjoyfrontporch.com.
