GASTON COUNTY, N.C.,None — Thanks for participating in our survey. Are NC's DWI Laws Strict Enough? Do you think North Carolina's DWI laws are strict enough? Yes. No.
A man convicted of habitual DWI picked up a new DWI charge over the weekend, Channel 9's newspaper partner, the Gaston Gazette, reported.
A Gaston County police officer stopped Mark Featherston around midnight Saturday on Bessemer City Road, near Isley Drive, for failing to stay in one lane, according to a citation.
Featherston was unsteady on his feet, had alcohol on his breath and glassy eyes, according to an affidavit. His blood-alcohol content was more than two times North Carolina's legal limit of 0.08, the affidavit says.
Featherston was charged with DWI, driving left of center and driving while license revoked. He was booked into Gaston County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
Featherston spent more than a year in prison on a July 2003 habitual DWI conviction in Gaston County, the Gazette reported.
