CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — The family of a 63-year-old man who was shot and killed two years ago held a memorial Saturday in his honor.
Larry Broughton was killed on May 12, 2008, at the Country Hearth Inn on West Sugar Creek Road in Charlotte.
Family and friends are holding onto hope that his killers will be caught, and begging for someone to come forward with information.
More than 30 friends and family gathered at his gravesite Saturday. They released balloons into the air attached with a special message.
"Please help us find Larry Broughton's killers," said Alice Williamson, who was good friends with Larry.
The balloons were released in Broughton's honor. "We're still looking for the people who did this," said Tonya Baldock, Larry's daughter.
Surveillance video captured from the crime scene shows two men walking in and shooting two employees. Larry was killed. The other employee was left paralyzed.
"We would love to know who and why," said Williamson.
Broughton would have turned 66 on Friday. "He worked hard, he played hard and he loved hard," said Williamson.
"For this to happen to somebody in your own family it makes you stop and realize how bad the world really is," said Baldock.
Investigators have few clues in the murder. If you know anything that could help solve the case, call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
