CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A dance instructor has been sent to prison for as long as 8 years after pleading guilty to sex acts with a juvenile male student.
Eddie Mabry, 52, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Mecklenburg County to one charge of second-degree sexual offense related to abuse that prosecutors said lasted several years, starting when the boy was 14 years old.
Prosecutor Kelly Stetzer says the assaults occurred at Mabry's now-shuttered studio in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and at his Huntersville, North Carolina home.
Mabry's guilty plea came two days after he entered an Alford plea, not admitting guilt, to sex charges in South Carolina's York County, where the studio was located.
Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Meghan McDonald says Mabry will serve 73 to 97 months.
