Former CMPD Officer Shoots Ex-wife, Self

DAVIDSON, N.C.,None — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a double shooting in Davidson at about 2 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said former CMPD officer Jeremy Hester shot his ex-wife, Erin Cobb, then turned the gun on himself.

Witnesses told police Hester and Cobb were fighting outside Cobb's on Callaway Hills Lane and moments later, neighbors said they heard multiple gun shots.

"She heard four consecutive rounds of gunfire and a scream," said neighbor Rob Myers.

"We watched them perform CPR for a while, and then they removed them one at a time," Myers said.

According to police, Hester shot Cobb in the neck, then shot him himself in the head.

Both were taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Cobb was listed in stable, but critical condition. Hester remained in critical condition Saturday night.

According to CMPD, Hester was hired on May 14, 2007, and resigned from duty as a patrol officer with the Metro Division on March 20, 2010.
