CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Storms brought a massive tree down in Davidson on Thursday night and on Friday crews had a lot of clean up to do in that area.
Crews spent the morning on Lake Norman picking up branches and clearing debris after a powerful storm blew through Davidson Landing Condominiums.
Steve Carmen was called in early. His crew had to remove a massive tree off the condos.
Carmen couldn’t believe how much damage was concentrated in the small residential area.
“It was bad. It looked like a war zone, like a little tornado came through,” Carmen said.
Residents feel the same way. Watson Dufour was gone when the storm hit and didn’t realize how bad it was until he pulled in.
“When I got into the little development here, wow, there were limbs all over the place, leaves all over the place,” Dufour said.
The comparison of the amount of damage at the condos compared to 300 yards away was amazing. Dufour check on his boat and found it was covered with some leaves.
The Channel 9 Severe Weather Center team of meteorologists said the likely cause of the concentrated damage was straight-line winds, something that doesn’t surprise Dufour.
