COLUMBIA, S.C.,None — Nearly six weeks after a toddler vanished from his Columbia home, family members pleaded with the public for help Friday afternoon.
Jocelyn Jennings Nelson last saw her grandson, Amir, on Thanksgiving weekend.
"My family and I are requesting your support, and helping us to find his location, and bring him home," she said.
She reported Amir and her daughter, 22-year-old Zinah Jennings, missing on Dec. 8. Zinah had only random phone contact with her family after that day, telling them she was depressed, but saying little else.
Then on Christmas Eve, Zinah was involved in a car accident in Columbia. That was the first time her family knew anything of her whereabouts for weeks.
However, her son was not with her in the car.

Police asked her where her son was.
According to search warrants, she first told them she didn't have a son. Following that conversation, police said she has made up a series of lies, telling them Amir is in Atlanta and with various family members.
All have turned out to be dead ends.
Zinah Jennings is in jail charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. Police charged her with that offense because of her refusal to tell them where the toddler is.
The boy's father has not seen him recently, and is not a suspect in the investigation, according to police.
Police have searched the home and yard of Jocelyn Jennings on Lady Street in Columbia. They used cadaver dogs as well, but won't say what, if anything, they recovered or seized from the house.
A third search warrant was obtained for the car that was involved in the Dec. 24 accident. That information has not yet been made public.
Amir's aunt, Millie Houston begged for help, from everyone. "If you know anything, or can remember any incident, you may think it's insignificant, but please call police," she said.

The boy's grandmother was emotional as she described Amir as a bright and happy baby. "He loves music, and nursery rhymes," she said. "He has four to six front teeth, with a very distinct gap."
Columbia police are still hoping to hear that the missing boy may be in Charlotte or Atlanta. Zinah Jennings has ties to those cites, and Chief Randy Scott said Columbia detectives are in Atlanta working the case.
"Amir's out there somewhere, and we're not going stop until we find out where," he said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have been in contact with Columbia police. The FBI was also brought in early on the case as well.
Zinah Jennings was a student at Winthrop University in Rock Hill for one school year in 2007. Rock Hill police have also been made aware of the case.
