CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — The sister of a man killed six months ago met with homicide detectives Monday hoping to learn of any progress in the investigation.
Donielle Prophete spent about an hour meeting with police Monday afternoon.
Her brother, Tony Alston, was killed at his West Charlotte home in April. Alston was a transgender man who'd been living as a woman for more than 20 years. Prophete wants to make sure police are staying on top of the case.
(Eyewitness News has referred to Tony Alston as "he" at the request of his sister.)
"I just want to know that they're working as hard on this case as everybody else's case," Prophete told Eyewitness News.
"We haven't forgotten about the case," Capt. Rod Golding, who oversees the homicide unit that is investigating Alston's death.
Golding said that they are still looking for leads in the case, which is wide open.
