CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Charlotte firefighters were investigating the cause of a fire at a motel in east Charlotte Saturday.
Crews responded to the Budget Inn at 2224 East Independence Boulevard at about 6 a.m.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke but no flames.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 16 minutes.
Fire officials told Eyewitness News that they believe the fire began in a control room.
It was unclear how much damage the building received, but fire officials say no one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
