WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — Looking out at Wrightsville Beach Friday afternoon, you can hardly tell a hurricane passed through the area and with people back out on the beach, it looks like it should for this time of year.
Officials said about 2,500 people had to evacuate the area before Hurricane Dorian. The evacuation order has since been lifted so many are heading home to survey any damage.
"Glued in front of the TV to see how much devastation I would come back to, it was not a pleasant thought," resident Stephen Vedder. "As I did come home, we found roof damage so that is discomforting."
Channel 9's Ken Lemon has been down in Wrightsville Beach the past few days. Watch the video above as he and the residents see some encouraging signs.
