On Monday, Oct. 24, The Chester County District Board of Trustees voted to provide loyalty bonuses for all Chester County School District employees.
In an effort by the District to show appreciation to the staff members that have been dedicated to the District and to aid them with the increased cost of living, full-time staff will receive a $1,000 bonus and part-time staff will receive a $500 bonus.
Executive assistant to the superintendent, Callie McConnell, shared her excitement about the unanimous vote.
“This is a blessing,” McConnell said, “I don’t recall in my over 40 years working with the District, that all employees received this type of bonus prior to Dr. Sutton’s administration.”
Teacher bonuses were initially approved earlier this year in June, stemming from a state legislature push to assist school districts in teacher retention efforts. But District officials recommended a districtwide loyalty bonus for all employees.
“It is important that we show our entire staff how much we appreciate their hard work, especially in a time where staff shortages are affecting school districts across the country,” Superintendent Antwon Sutton said.
