CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A Charlotte woman will soon be on her way to Oregon to face charges that she tried to hire a hit man to kill a key witness in a multimillion-dollar diamond theft ring.
FBI agents arrested Brittany Ladd, 22, on suspicion she tried to hire an undercover agent to kill a Union County man who's charged in that theft ring.
Agents said Victor Lupis confessed to being involved in the heists and named others, including Ladd's boyfriend, Trey Adams.
A federal judge refused to release Ladd on bond this week.
