A company that specializes in call-center services plans to open a Charlotte facility and expand its operation in Concord, creating about 1,200 jobs.
Orlando-based Connextions said it plans to hire about 800 employees for an office in Forest Park, off Arrowood Road. In Concord, the company plans to add about 400 new hires to its current facility, which employs about 600 people.
The company, which provides call-center services for some of the largest health insurance companies in the country, plans to start construction of its Charlotte office this week and will be hiring soon.
"We have 800 jobs that we need to fill in the July/August time frame," CEO Steven Auerbach said. "So, these are all jobs that are coming this year."
Auerbach said, for his company, sending call-center jobs overseas, as many businesses have, was never an option.
"You're dealing with their health or their wealth. The last thing that you want to do is deal with somebody that has never interacted with the U.S. health care system and ... doesn't understand what you're saying," Auerbach said. "Which is why we're 100 percent on shore."
Depending on sales, employees at the Charlotte office could earn between $40,000 and $50,000 per year, the company said.
