In November, the Upper Pond was transformed into an ice skating rink, and a new half-mile lighted walking trail opened. Both attractions will close on Monday.
The ice skating experience features 17,000 square feet of ice and three distinct programming areas: an ice trail, a free skate area and an activity zone.
There’s also a skate-up Airstream bar inside the rink, where you can purchase hot chocolate, coffee, or beer.

Skating requires an access pass and is available through an Annual Pass, Day Pass or Single Activity Pass starting at $20. All passes include skate rental in addition to activity access.
"Lights" is a half-mile walking trail in the woods that leads visitors through a series of immersive light installations featuring honeycombs, vines, crystals and more.
The works are site-specific to the Whitewater Center and were created by Charlotte artist Meredith Connelly.
"Lights" runs nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., rain or shine, and there is no cost to walk the trail.
Parking at the center costs $6.
