Team coverage of how stormy weather will affect your Halloween plans

The threat of strong storms Thursday evening means some communities are canceling or postponing their trick-or-treating plans.

Families in Madison Park were planning to gather Thursday night for their annual Truck or Treat event, but it has now been canceled because of the weather.

Many neighborhoods in the Charlotte area are considering canceling or moving plans to another day as well.

Even City Council member Tariq Bokhari agreed that the forecast isn't ideal for trick-or-treaters tonight and posted on Facebook asking if anyone would be open to the city postponing Halloween to Friday.

"That would be a good thing," said grandparent Noreen Kerr-Thompson. "Let everyone know we're moving it to Friday provided the weather is better instead of canceling it. That's not nice."

Parents said no matter what happens, their children will celebrate Halloween one way or another.

"I don't think it should be postponed because of the rain," said parent Morgan Busby. "Rain jacket, coat, rain boots. Rain shouldn't stop anything. I don't think it should be canceled."
