The songwriter behind some of the biggest hits in pop and R&B has died, his wife confirmed.
TVOne reported Grammy winner LaShawn Daniels died at age 41.
Daniels' wife, April Daniels, confirmed the news in an Instagram post, saying he died in a car accident in South Carolina. She asked that donations be made to in lieu of flowers.
"It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, family member and friend, Lashawn Daniels who was the victim of a fatal car accident in South Carolina," the statement read. "A Grammy-award winning producer and songwriter, Daniels was a man of extraordinary faith and a pillar in our family.
"We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the continuous outpouring of love and sympathy. We ask that you respect the privacy of our entire family during this difficult time."
Daniels was a frequent collaborator with producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. The two worked on hits like Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine," Destiny's Child's "Say My Name," Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love," Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right but It's Okay," Michael Jackson's "You Rock My World." and "Telephone" by Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce. Daniels has also worked with Drake, Tamar Braxton, Toni Braxton, Spice Girls and Janet Jackson, among many others.
He frequently appeared on "Tamar & Vince," Tamar Braxton's WeTV reality show with her ex-husband, producer Vincent Herbert.
Musicians and producers have taken to Twitter to mourn his death.

Yooooo I’m lost. Lashawn Daniels died?!!!! I’m stuck. This man took my vocal ability to new levels while working in Dirty Money. One of the funniest people with the best heart. A rare talent and a beautiful soul.
