MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Nearly 27,000 pounds of food were donated by community members for the Channel 9 Food Drive Wednesday.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department along with Northside Baptist Church donated 6000 servings of baby food.

USA 4 Vets, an organization that provides meals for veterans that are in need, donated 17,000 lbs of food  which equates to 11,000 individual meals.

The will supply over 18,000 individual meals for the community.

Wednesday’s 9 Food Drive was the most successful collection day in the history of the 9 Food Drive.

For the past 16 years, WSOC-TV and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina have partnered to end area hunger through the 9 Food Drive.

You can help by donating canned or nonperishable food items now at any Arby’s, Ashley HomeStore or E.R. Services. A complete list of donation locations is listed here.

Because the food bank supplies food and essential grocery items to hundreds of agencies, a monetary donation helps all of these organizations. For every $1 the food bank receives, it distributes 7 pounds of food. You can donate now by clicking here.
