SALISBURY, N.C. — Newly released body camera footage shows the moments Salisbury police pulled a 67-year-old woman out of her car by her hair and threw her to the ground.
The video is at the center of a federal lawsuit that the woman filed against the city of Salisbury, the sheriff, two police officers and a deputy.

Stephanie Bottom claims officers tore her rotator cuff during the arrest in 2019. In the video, you can hear her crying in pain.
The suit claims Bottom was going 10 miles over the speed limit on Interstate 85 when officers tried to pull her over. Bottom didn’t stop immediately and claimed she was looking for a safe place to pull over.
Bottom later pleaded guilty to not stopping for the blue lights. She’s suing over excessive use of force and said officers unlawfully searched her car and purse.
The lawsuit claims her rights were violated under the U.S. Constitution. She wants a jury trial.
