Cut the cost of back-to-school shopping by thrifting

CHARLOTTE — Back-to-school time can be exciting, but also stressful and expensive. There are ways you can cut those costs.

Channel 9′s Elsa Gillis has some suggestions on ways to save as kids get ready to head back to class.

Gillis said she visited a handful of thrift stores in our area where you can find much of what you need to ensure your student feels confident, as well as prepared for the school year.

Not only is thrifting great for the budget and environment, but there are shops that also give back to the community.

“Most of the money we make through our thrift shop, grants, and other funding, is going directly back into this community,” said Michele Hagan with the Assitance League in Charlotte.
