Mother Nature gifted the Charlotte region some much needed rain Friday morning. Motorists had to deal with spotty showers throughout the morning drive and we will keep the threat for rain off-and-on throughout the day.
MEDIC told Channel 9 they responded to 23 accidents with injuries Friday morning.
We can't rule out a rumble of thunder either and while we could see a few breaks in the clouds, it will be mostly cloudy all day, with highs in the low 70s.
There will be the threat for rain covered roads for your commute today, take it slow! #wsoc #WakeUpWith9 #Charlotte pic.twitter.com/NQYZo6krEN

We will keep the threat for spotty showers and storms through the afternoon, and even though it won't be a washout, keep the rain gear and the free wsoc weather app handy.
The severe weather threat will remain low throughout the day and high temperatures will be in the mid-70s.
Showers will wind down later Friday night and we are looking at more sunshine for Saturday. Some of the models bring a few brief showers east of Charlotte Saturday afternoon, but they will be few and far between.
Lots of sunshine is expected by Sunday, with highs in the mid-70s.
