FRIDAY: Showers drifting off the mountains early Friday morning were drying up and the clouds already in place will clear up through midday. The sunshine will warm temperatures into the mid-90s, and the heat index values will once again hit 100 degrees or higher.
AFTERNOON STORMS: Additional storms should fire up Friday afternoon, especially east of the metro area. These storms will be strong-to-severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain the main threats.
WEEKEND: Conditions improve a bit heading into the upcoming weekend, with temperatures hitting the upper 80s both Saturday and Sunday. Humidity will still be around, accompanied by a few scattered showers Saturday afternoon.
UPCOMING WEEK: Monday and Tuesday looks active for strong storms across the Carolinas, with the possibility of widespread heavy rain, lightning and strong winds. Temperatures continue to stay around average, in the upper 80s to start the week.
