Robin Thicke posts emotional tribute to late father Alan Thicke

LOS ANGELES — Robin Thicke paid tribute to his late father, actor Alan Thicke, early Wednesday with an emotional post on social media.

"My father passed away today," the "Blurred Lines" singer wrote on Instagram of his father, who died of a heart attack Tuesday while playing hockey with another son, Carter. "He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had. Let's all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son."

Robin Thicke, 39, also told the Los Angeles Times that his father "was beloved and he had closure."

"I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him," he told the Times.

Carter Thicke, 19, also took to social media to share his grief.

"Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of its finest," he tweeted. "You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time."

 

 

Alan Thicke, 69, was best known for playing Jason Seaver on "Growing Pains," which ran from 1985 to 1992. He also was a composer, writing the theme songs for "Wheel of Fortune" and "Diff’rent Strokes," as well as co-writing "The Facts of Life" theme with ex-wife and soap opera star Gloria Loring.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya, and sons Brennan, Robin and Carter.
