Jordan issued a statement stating that proceeds from the ESPN documentary, “The Last Dance,” will fund the donation.

“In these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to pause and give thanks. I am proud to be donating additional proceeds from ‘The Last Dance’ to Feeding America and its member food banks in the Carolinas and Chicago to help feed America’s hungry,” Jordan said in the statement.

According to NBA.com, “The Last Dance” chronicled Jordan’s Chicago Bulls championship team during the 1997-98 season.

Jordan, who now owns the Charlotte Hornets in his home state of North Carolina, is no stranger to philanthropy.

Earlier this year, he donated $100 million to an array of organizations fighting racism, including Black Votes Matter, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Formerly Incarcerated, Convicted Peoples and Families, NBA.com reported.

Meanwhile, Jordan also donated $7 million in 2017 to help build medical clinics targeting at-risk communities in Charlotte; he gave $2 million to assist with Hurricane Florence recovery efforts in North Carolina the following year; and in 2019, he donated $1 million to help with Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in the Bahamas.
