UNION COUNTY, N.C.,None — A Union County teacher resigned Wednesday after allegations of a sexual relationship with a student surfaced.
The Union County Sheriff's Office said 27-year-old Melissa Bitz had sex with an 18-year-old student at Parkwood High School in Monroe, where she was a first-year Spanish teacher.
Bitz was arrested on Tuesday night at her Indian Trail home and charged with a sexual act by a custodian.
