MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A Darlington teenager died two days after being pulled from the ocean by lifeguards and bystanders.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says 17-year-old Mikease McFarland died Friday at a Myrtle Beach hospital.
Local media outlets report that McFarland, his sister and 12-year-old brother were swimming Wednesday when a strong current pulled them under the water.
Police say the girl managed to get out of the water on her own and was treated on the beach.
The 12-year-old is still missing.
