LUMBERTON, N.C. — Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are looking for three people who exchanged gunfire with a police officer after a bank robbery in North Carolina.
On Thursday, police announced that they had arrested a fourth person connected to the crime.
The FBI said in a news release on Wednesday that the four suspects robbed a PNC Bank branch in Lumberton on Tuesday.
After the suspects fled the bank, Lumberton police chased the getaway car, described as a gray Saturn. According to the FBI, the suspects fired multiple shots at police as they got out of the car at different locations during the chase.
An officer returned fire, but it isn't known if any of the suspects were hit. No officers were hurt, and agents searched for the suspects in the woods overnight.
On Thursday, police said Jeramie Vaughn, 29, was found and arrested.
Officials said the other three men are to be considered armed and dangerous.
