RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh investigators said a 17-year-old lifeguard died when an electric charge in a community pool knocked her unconscious.
Wake County deputies told media outlets that someone called 911 to report an unconscious woman in the Heritage Point subdivision pool about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies say Rachel Rosoff was last seen alive around 9 a.m. Saturday.
Another employee arrived at work Saturday to find Rosoff dead in the pool. That person called 911 and said she could tell the water might be electrified.
“She was right up against the ladder looking like she had almost just gotten in and something must have happened,” the person said in the 911 call.
Investigators are trying to figure out how the water became electrified.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
