3 arrested after woman secretly calls 911 during home invasion

MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — Police arrested three men accused of bursting into a home in Mount Holly with rifles and firing a shot at a teenager inside.

T.J. Anderson told Channel 9 reporter Ken Lemon that his 18-year-old brother was at the home Tuesday night on Costner Street with a friend and their girlfriends when three masked men kicked open the front door.

“He’s like, ‘Where is the money at? Where is the money at?’” Anderson said.

The accused robbers focused their attention on Anderson’s brother.

“They drug him to the back room, and they shut the door and let off a round into the ceiling,” Anderson said.

One of the women in the home secretly dialed 911 while the suspects were still inside. During the call, a suspect and gunshot can be heard.

The robbers stole $800 in cash.

“That’s rent money. That’s food money. You know how hard it is for us to get $800?” Anderson said.

Police arrived in time to see the men run to their car. Officers followed the suspects and stopped them around the corner.

Channel 9 learned that two of the suspects, William Porter and DeAngelo Rice, went to high school with Anderson’s brother.

The third suspect, Octavious White, was considered a family friend.

“(He has) been to be grandma’s house. They know my momma. We know their grandmomma. Those friendships are over,” Anderson said.

Anderson said he and his brother talked about moving, and now they’re going to speed up the plans to move out.
