BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A woman was found dead after a fire blazed through a garage in Burke County Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters from Drexel, Valdese and Triple Community responded to the call around 2:45 p.m. on Windy Hill Drive east of Morganton. The woman was found dead behind the garage.
The fire spread to the woods behind the garage.
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
