CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a woman in a deadly three-car crash in south Charlotte.

Kenitra Peterson is charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and child abuse inflicting serious injury.
Police said she was speeding Dec. 17 on Clanton Road when she rear-ended a car. Both vehicles went through the intersection at South Boulevard and hit another car, according to officers.
A passenger of the car that was rear-ended, Paulette Lawrence, died at the scene.
The crash shut down the LYNX Blue Line light rail for almost a day because the crash ended up on the light rail tracks.
Peterson’s two children were seriously injured in the crash. Her 10-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were taken to Carolinas Medical Center.
