CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Authorities said a woman is lucky to be alive after driving the wrong way for more than a dozen miles on Interstate 485.
North Carolina state troopers said Layla Estrada drove the wrong way on I-485 for about 13 miles against oncoming traffic without crashing.
Troopers said they managed to stop Estrada on I-485 at Brookshire Boulevard and that she came from the Concord Mills area.
Investigators told Channel 9 that Estrada had just left a friends’ house and had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.
Estrada faces several charges, including driving while impaired.
