CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters said an outside air conditioning unit caused a house fire in south Charlotte Saturday night.
The fire displaced two adults and a dog from the home on Providence Country Club Drive.
Fire officials said working smoke alarms alerted the adults to the fire at the two-story house around 10:30 p.m.
Firefighters said they arrived on scene within six minutes of the initial 911 call and saw flames through the roof.
More than 32 firefighters controlled the fire within 40 minutes.
Fire officials estimated $70,000 in property damage.
