LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — State troopers said a woman was killed and four children were injured in a crash in Lancaster County Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators said the wreck happened on Highway 903 after the 47-year-old woman drove off the roadway near Baker Place Road and hit an embankment before slamming into a tree.
She was rushed to Springs Hospital where she died. Her name has not been released.
Troopers said four children in the vehicle were hurt in the crash, and that two of them were flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
It was still unclear why the woman drove off the road.
