UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A section of Lancaster Highway was closed Monday morning in Union County following a deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer, state troopers said.
The wreck happened around 6:10 a.m. on Lancaster Highway near Doster Road in Monroe when a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler collided, according to troopers.
Investigators told Channel 9 that the two vehicles sideswiped each other and that that big-rig crashed onto its side, killing the driver.
His name has not been released.
The driver of the pickup truck was expected to be OK, troopers said.
Authorities blocked all lanes of the highway while they investigated.
