CONCORD, N.C. — A mother and daughter died in a three-car collision on Highway 200 in Concord Sunday evening, troopers said.
The wreck happened around 6 p.m. when a Dodge Caravan driven by Bobby Walls, 46, crossed the center line on the wet roads and hit the other cars head-on, troopers said.
Moneiqua Walls, 18, was in the Dodge Caravan and died at the scene. Troopers said Bobby Walls died Monday morning from her injuries.
Moneiqua's twin sister, Sheneiqua Walls, and their 13-year-old brother were also in the car. Sheneiqua Walls is in critical condition. The 13-year-old is expected to be OK.
Troopers said a total of 11 people were transported to the hospital from the accident scene. The people in the two other cars all suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.
The Walls sisters have many friends at Forest Hills High School in Union County where Sheneiqua still attends. Moneiqua graduated in 2016. Friends described the twins as fun loving. School officials learned about the crash Monday morning and were working to reach out to the victim's family.
