Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged Seok Won Andrew Sung, 18, in a fatal wreck that happened on April 2 on McKee Road in Charlotte.
Joshua Pang, 14, who was in the same car as Sung, died in the crash.
Authorities said Sung was speeding when he lost control and hit a tree.
Sung was hospitalized with critical injuries as a result of the wreck.
Three others in the car were injured as well.
Sung was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving to endanger.
