CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A popular South End restaurant dedicated its newly renovated patio Wednesday night to a beloved employee who was hit and killed by a car near the restaurant.
Mac's Speed Shop on South Boulevard held the ceremony Wednesday night to honor Kelli Putnam who was killed in January while walking near the restaurant.
A Grand Jury indicted the driver, Gregory Wheeling Jr., on a second-degree murder charge.
Investigators said alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
